Morning Rituals
I watched, from my eastern window this morning, as hundreds of birds arrived at the tallest maples in the area. They carefully arranged themselves along the branches, creating space for one another. It was a grand spectacle.
What are they gathering for? I wondered, and was immediately answered with a knowing- to witness the sunrise, of course.
Each bird seemed to be vying for the best seat in the house, eagerly anticipating the arrival of this new day. We watched, together, as the first radiant rays peeked over the horizon, and the crowd erupted into jubilant chorus.
Their departure was just as dynamic, as they flew directly toward me and over my home.
I was left with a profound appreciation for this brand new day… and a sense of ritual and reverence for each new beginning.
The animals often have so much to say, so much to show us, if we have the presence to stop and listen.
